"Then and Now"
Grandpa used to tell me Stories about the old days The days when the blue skies are bright When dawns filled with morning dews
Birds chirping and nesting Caterpillars turning into butterflies All in the trees of our own backyard
The nights are cool, and so tranquil Lying down under the starry night sky You can hear the sound of the wind
Then I said to Grandpa, 'That can't be the world I know!'
For all I can see now is Hundreds of skyscrappers Surrounded by thousand of noisy automobiles Underneath the shady polluted sky
I can no longer find the trees, the birds, nor the butterflies
Nights are now warm I can hardly see the stars As they're covered by the smokey sky
Where are those bright blue skies, Grandpa? Where are those huge leafy trees? And what happen to those peaceful nights you told me about? They all sound like a fairy tale to me
You must be very sad to see the world today, Grandpa All the amazingly beautiful things are gone This planet is becoming too warm for us to live in They call it Global Warming
We might have to migrate to another planet, Unless we do something serious about it.
Wish us luck, Grandpa!
So, I gave an assignment to my Pre Elementary students to make poetry about the recently hot topics: the global warming. And there it is, I tried to make my own. Guess, I'm not so poetic, am I? ;)Labels: assignment, poetry |
